Google’s transparency report shows that they are receiving daily a whopping 1.5 million URLs, across 32,000 different sites, qith requests to remove them from their index. With the recent announcement from Google that they are now taking punitive action (see Ben Rush explanation below)on sites that host or link to pirate content. Action is taken based on the number of approved DMCA requests for sites. It is however unlikely to slow as content owners continue to submit evermore URL’s for links they want removed.
Ben Rush – CEO of AudioLock said: “Every customer automatically has illegal links to their content sent in DMCA notices to Google. We hope to start seeing sites which are repeat offenders pushed down the Google rankings, although as yet in these ealy days we have not seen a marked difference.”
