AudioLock Monthly Roundup – September Edition

The AIM Independent Music Awards show and after party held at The Brewery is one of the key fixtures in the independent music sector’s calendar. The event celebrates the hard work and rich artistic output of the independent labels and artists. The full list of winners can be seen here.

Stormzy not only picked up an award on the night but had arrived in a mad dash on a motorbike as he’d been collecting an award at a GQ Magazine ceremony earlier in the evening.

We very much enjoyed catching up with so many friendly faces and sampling a few too many of the fantastic beers provided by Signature Brew.

On a more serious note we are proud of the work our Director of Business Development, Tristan Hunt has been doing with The Association For Electronic Music (AFEM) to raise awareness of mental health issues around music. At this year’s upcoming Amsterdam Dance Event AFEM have pulled together a panel titled: Protecting Mental & Physical Health for Fans & Professionals. This features DJ Juan Atkins, Christine Brown from Help Musicians UK, producers Pig&Dan and Arash Shirazi from the Bullit Agency. Whilst this is an electronic music event it is safe to say advice and learning from such initiatives will benefit people involved in all genres of music. With the recent tragic losses experienced in rock with the suicides of Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington it is clear mental health in music is something which needs to be addressed.

The panel will take place at the DeLaMar Theatre, Marnixstraat 402, Amsterdam – Wednesday 18th October 3pm-5pm. Details here.

We were also very happy to be able to facilitate the AFEM member’s meeting at the end of August held at Facebook’s London office.
